what is spice powder?
Deb, Nini, George — I must affectionately tell you that you all are so funny. I came to read comments about this recipe (i.e. if anybody has made it and their comments), and all I found was you three who thought the recipe LOOKED great, but you haven’t provided any results. So….um….where are your comments? Did you try it? Was this recipe as wonderful as it sounds?
I just bought my first dehydrator and am about to venture into the great, yummy world of jerky, and I’m going to try this recipe first. For anybody else out there looking for a true testamentary, I promise to bookmark this page and get back to you with my comments and results (LOL!)
As for Deb, Nini and George, I’d love to hear about your experiences with this recipe. How did it come out for you? I’d really like to know and will be checking back periodically between now and the time I actually get to try the recipe.
Thanks,
Tricia
P.S. George, I’m not sure about “spice powder,” but it might be “Allspice.” I’ve never heard of just “spice powder.”
It might be Chinese 5 spice powder-available in most groceries.
Fantastic Recipe! I’m glad to report to the above posters that it turned out great! I used wild turkey, marinated as directed (assuming, like ML, that the spice was Chinese 5 Spice), and smoked it on a Traeger grill-though I’ve made jerky on a dehydrator and I’m sure it’d be great.
It was the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and tanginess from the ginger and 5-spice. I bookmarked it and will make it next time I get a turkey! Definitely recommended!
